Skill Levels

BEGINNER
Beginner skill lesson focus on riding basics such as body position, bike fit, pedaling efficiency, cornering, climbing, uphill starts, and small obstacle clearing. You probably feel comfortable riding beginner (green) trails with the occasional turn onto something bumpier. Once things get steep (up or down) it’s time to walk.

INTERMEDIATE
Intermediate skill lessons will concentrate on advanced cornering, more effective braking, climbing skills, large obstacle clearing, small rock rolls and jumps. You’ve probably ridden a bunch, but you’re looking to venture onto the advanced trails. Those rock rolls are just a bit more than you want to take on.

ADVANCED FLATLANDER
Super comfortable on most single track in the Midwest, comfortable riding rough flatter trails or rolling terrain. However, when you find rock rolls, drops, and gaps it's time to turn around. It’s quite possible that you’ve done many xc mountain bike races and you just want to learn to ride steep trails!

ADVANCED
Advanced skill lessons are designed to improve a rider’s ability to descend with confidence over rocky and steep trails, master rock rolls, become confident with drops and some jumps, and increase climbing ability to mountain goat status.

Pro
You get paid to ride your bike and just want someone to chase you around the trails. I can’t teach you anything besides the direction of the trail.

Mountain Bike Skill Options

Extra Intermediate/Advanced

Recovering Flatlander - A smattering of lessons to help take your gravity/anti-gravity skills to the next level. Each lesson will be based on you and will fluctuate during the course.
Advanced Rolls
- Time to ride that rock roll that is taller than you, maybe even bigger, that one you never thought would be possible. This includes steep dirt trails and rock rolls of most sorts.
Rock it - Get more comfortable riding those chunky and loose descents. A good lesson in advanced line choices.
Frequent Flier - We will go explore some of the jumps and gaps that require some commitment to air time.
Mountain Goat - Prepare to climb the steepest, bumpiest terrain you can pedal up!
Need for Speed - Work on extending you brake pads life and let gravity take over on those longer descents.

Beginner/Intermediate

The Basics - If you’re brand new to riding this is a good place to start. We will work on the fundamentals to mountain biking such as position, safe braking, efficient pedaling, and trail vision.
Wheelie Good Start - Let’s get those tires off the ground (front and rear)! We will work on appropriate and efficient wheel lifts for any experience level. Wheel lifts are an important skill for uphill and downhill riding. This includes bunny hops.
Quickly Cornering - Corner faster and more confidently on berms or off camber rooty and rocky trails! Don’t forget uphill cornering is just as important as downhill cornering.
Dropping In - Work on confidently taking on steep descents with those pesky rocks and roots. This will open up a whole new world of fun for any rider! These descents can include rock rolls or a trail.
Small Drops - Preparing to fly, work on the foundations of getting off the ground.
